Dexter Replacement EZ Lube Drive-In Grease Cap Review- Video
Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the Dexter E-Z Lube replacement grease cap. These little grease caps honestly are almost a maintenance item and I say that because when you go to service a trailer and you need to take this off typically you're gonna take a mallet or something and tap on it and work it around to get this to pop off. And what happens usually after the first time 'cause these aren't super solid, here's the old one that I'm replacing and even just lightly tapping it it starts to get dented and kind of deformed and that's only after one time being careful. So if you do this a couple of times usually it's just unusable and so not a bad idea to keep this all straight in good shape because if you ding this in too far it might not seal up right or it might start to hit against the, you know, other parts inside of here. And so having a replacement like this, instead of trying to deal with the headache of straightening this out and making it work, pick one of these up and just replace it and call it a day. more

Now, this is a 50 millimeter cartridge style Nev-R-Lube bearing. Now, this type of bearing does look different than your normal wheel bearings, but basically with this, what you're getting is you're getting both the inner and outer bearing together, and then it's lubricated and then they're sealed in this cartridge. So you have the bearings all put together. So this cartridge you just insert into your hub and drum. more

Hi there trailer runners! Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the XL Pro Lube oil bath adapter. This oil bath cap will allow you to take a traditional grease filled assembly and remove your cap on there, install this new one that gives you a fill point for your oil bath and all the necessary markings that you need on here to know how full that you need to make it. Now, when you're installing this if you are doing a conversion from a grease setup to oil you would wanna make sure that you also replace the seal on the inside. And that seal needs to be an oil bath seal instead of just a regular typical grease seal. There are differences between the two and it's important that you have the appropriate one to prevent the oil from leaking out. You can also get these in a kit. more

Review of Dexter Axle Axle Parts - K71-859-00- Video
Today we're going to take a look at the replacement oil cap for the AL-KO and Hayes 10,000 lb to 16,000 lb axles. Now this part will replace the oil cap, the O-ring and the plug on your AL-KO or Hayes axle. It's designed to fit 10,000 lb to 16,000 lb heavy duty axles. This part is made in the USA, and again your O-ring will just go onto the threads here. Before we thread it in roll it all the way down, it gives you a good seal.And then once that's installed, then you'll take your plug and the plug will insert into the center portion and just pop into place. So basically this clear oil cap will screw into your oil bath hub, allows you to fill the oil into the hub right through that plug opening right there, and you're able to see the level of the oil in your system.But that should do it for the review on the replacement oil cap kit for the AL-KO and Hayes, 10,000 lb, 16,000 lb axles.. more

This does use an industry standard part number, which is stamped on here, of JM511946, and this is designed to be used with a matching bearing race of part number JM511940, which we do sell separately on our website. Now, the inside diameter on this, which is measured inside to inside, is going to be 2.559 inches. Choosing the Best Trailer Bearing Races Caps and Seals- Video
Today we're gonna be taking a look at some vital components for our trailer. Specifically, bearings, races, seals, and caps.One part of having a trailer is gonna be the maintenance on it, and our bearings are gonna play a crucial part to make sure that we can get from point A to point B safely.Now if you're not quite sure of how to find your bearings, or where exactly they are in your trailer, we'll give you a representation of how to find them.First and foremost, you wanna chalk the wheels and safely support your trailer so you can remove the tire.Next, we can remove the grease cap. That'll be on the front.And behind there, you're gonna find a castle nut and a cotter pin. Now keep in mind, there will be a lot of grease in there, so you may need to wipe some things off, but we can remove the cotter pin, and then we'll unthread the castle nut that's holding everything in place.Now, in some cases, you may not have a cotter pin. It may be a washer that has a tab on it, but in any case, you're gonna be removing that so we can access the bearings inside the hub here.Now, with that, you're gonna pull on the hub, and the bearing in the front will probably fall off, so you're gonna wanna make sure you support it when you pull it out. And in this demonstration, we don't have everything pressed in, but the inner bearing and the seal would come off with it as well, leaving you with just your spindle here.With everything taken apart, now would be a great time to check the spindle. more

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a drive-in grease cap. Now this grease cap is designed for trailer hubs. It is a drive-in installation meaning that you place it onto the hub and then you tap it into place. We're looking at a nice, durable steel construction with corrosion resistant zinc plating so it's a very strong, durable design and does a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. Now the flange diameter, we took a measurement from outer edge to outer edge, and got a measurement of 2.718 inches, and the overall height, placed it like that and we measured up to this lip right here and got a measurement of one and 3/8 inches. Overall it's a nice design and, again, it is designed for trailer hubs and it's a drive-in installation. more

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Tekonsha grease seals. Now, these grease seals are a critical components to the hub assemblies on your trailer.Two grease seals are included. Each one measures the same, so we have an outer diameter of 3.365 inches with an inner diameter of 2.125 inches. So, to tell if these will fit your application, a lot of times what you can do is you can refer to the number located on the inner or outer bearings. You could also take precise measurements to the thousandths of an inch, so using some calipers would be the best way to tell and match up the measurements as closely as possible.But on this kit, I paid attention to the packaging it came in and right here it shows us that it fits or replaces the seals for the Dexter 12 by 2, Alco 12 by 2 hubs, Trailer Pack 505 or the TowCraft 1105-100-033. Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the unitized oil seal for trailer hubs. Now this seal is used in 8,000 pound Dexter oil bath axle, a unitized seal is a actually a dual action seal. Basically what happens is when this is installed, the inner portion will stay fixed on the spindle and the outer casing will rotate with the hub. This type of seal has less wear and tear, provides better leak protection. And again, this seal is used on mainly oil bath hubs.A few dimensions on this, the overall diameter, or outer diameter on this seal is 3.376 inches. Speaker 1: Today we're going to take you through the rebuild process on a couple of hubs. We've got an idler hub, and here we've got a hub and drum assembly. Works with electric rigs, but this can also work for just standard discs, if you've got a disc brake style setup.Basically what we're going to show you is how to get all of the bearings out. How to remove the seal. How to remove the race's if they're damaged, then get them replaced in the proper manner.
